So I decided to post something again. I actually wasn't able to post for the 3 people that read this, my craptop... Crapped out on me and Newgrounds is blocked in my desktop. Yeah, kinda lame, right? Well, seeing as I've found a full blag is too much of a hassle for what it's worth, and Twitter is... Twitter, I've decided to bore you with my recent adventures with my refurbished DSi.
Now, I'll just start from the top. I never had a DS. Or PSP, for that matter. The only handheld system I had was a GBM Virtuicon edition. Gave that away. T_l
But when a nearby... Erm, electronic store (They're all the same, right?) had a sale on the brand-spankin-new DSis, I scraped the pennies from my boots and forked over the cash. Now, I hadn't actually thought about what color to get, improv said a nice, clean white upon being asked by an over-bubbly clerk: "Okay! *girly sparkle* What color? :D :D :D" Like I was buying candy or something. o.O
Yeah, bad idea. The thing was made of some Chinese plastic, it smelled like fresh ABS, and turns out, it yellowed on me. After buying a few DSiWare games for myself, (Including Thorium Wars. Despite what the internet says, it's a neat little game. Too easy, though.) the thing's case got scratched. Like, badly. So I visited Consolesource and bought me a shiny new XCM Chrome casemod for it.
Yeah, that was a bad idea, too. (0_0")
(Begin XCM rant)
The thing was surprisingly heavy, (Which, mind you, is a good thing.) and made of an incredibly durable plastic. Really. Goodbye protective covering! :D
Or, at least, that's what I thought I'd be saying. But noo, they had to go and cheaply slop whatever chrome liquid they used all over the thing (Was pretty high quality as well. The top worked better than my bathroom mirror.) which not only led to solidified... Drips all over it, but also led to several miscuts and increasing the size of the thing by like, half. Which means the pieces don't fit together properly.
Of course, being the thin-minded kid I am, I had already dissected the poor handheld, which laid in shambles all over my desk. So I finished modding, and said "screw it."
Let the thing sit for a good 2 months before I wondered if it could be repaired. I won't bore you even more with the technical issues, but in the end I sent it off to Nintendo's factory.
See, I called about repairs, but the idiot on the phone had no idea what he was talking about, and obviously assumed that a casemod is a carrying case. T_T
I was about to scream "DUDE! I'M THE ONE THAT DAMAGED THE PART!!" when he informed me a repair was issued. Go me. :D
So I get the thing back a week later, and they changed the case to black. At first glance, I thought they just sent me a new DS, assumed from the lack of the two dead pixels on each of the screens. Yes, I lost my games. But upon further investigation, the registry was left there, and I was allowed to redownload the games. Yay.
Now the real reason I wanted to post this was to blab about my Acekard 2i which I bought alongside the XCM, but that'll be another post. Stay tuned, folks, later I'll rant about TI-85 emulation and proper ROM use! Now, if you read that whole thing, you either have a lot of time, extreme boredom, or no life.
Thank you very much.
(You can see the buckling I was talking about at the top of the photo.)
